Still in the Hunt--

Tigers stay in hunt for BCS bowl game

AUBURN - Auburn survived another round of cuts Tuesday and remains in consideration for one of the four Bowl Championship Series games. The field of contending teams was reduced from 16 to 15 from the previous week.

Auburn remains a BCS contender by virtue of having nine wins and being ranked among the Top 12 teams in the nation. The Tigers, however, are not a favorite to make a BCS bowl and have instead been maneuvering toward the Capital One Bowl in Orlando.

Penn State, Southern California and West Virginia have already qualified for a BCS game. The other contenders are Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Colorado, Texas, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon and UCLA.
