No Halloween Costume Yet?

Don't worry.

There's always the good old standby costume for guys and dolls: Halloween Drag 101

All it takes is some heavy makeup and some old dresses from your mom's closet and if you ladies go undercover just put on a suit and tie and some ugly shoes and color yourself a fake moustache.

Hypocrits--

Regents quiet on changing Univ. of Ga. policy on gays

"But while the University sought advice on the proposal, universities such as Georgia State, Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern already have “sexual orientation” in their policies.

“The political profile of the University is much higher than other schools in the state,” he said.

Patrick Miller, the director of information for Lambda Alliance, said he thinks the regents are waiting for a more gay-friendly political environment before making a recommendation on the proposal."

Banana Candy--

Today's Banana Candy is the original male supermodel Marcus Schenkenberg. He was most recently seen on the previous version of "The Surreal Life" on VH1. After watching how nice he was and how sensitive he was in that show, he can come over and chop down my banana tree anytime!

Moderate? Or Not?

Bush's new Supreme Court pick split rulings in gay school cases
Alito ruled for conservatives in one case, for effeminate student in 2nd

Maybe he's not as much of a right-wing wacko as we think. One can only hope but if this news gets out he may be toast just like Miers.

In 2004, Alito issued an opinion in Shore Regional High School vs. P.S., reversing a federal judge's ruling that required a student who had been severely bullied for being
effeminate from attending a high school with the same students who had harassed
him for years.

Both opinions were written on behalf of unanimous three-judge panels of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, based in Philadelphia. The split between the two school rulings by Alito — one striking down a broadly worded anti-harassment policy and the other protecting a student subjected to severe anti-gay harassment — suggest that while Alito is a conservative judge, he is not afraid to use the court's power to remedy a situation he views as unjust.

Happy Halloween!

GI Jake--

Here is a still photo from the upcoming movie, "Jarhead" starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Looks like he has definitely been working out. Can't wait to see this movie and then see him kissing Heath Ledger in the upcoming "Brokeback Mountain".

Here is some Halloween Candy. And I can only wonder what the devil costume might look like.

After the Funeral--

Seems "Six Feet Under" creator and fellow gay, Alan Ball has another new series coming to HBO.

''I was ready to do something a little lighter in tone than Six Feet,'' he tells the Hollywood Reporter. ''Five years of staring into the abyss was enough.'' Of course, Ball's idea of ''lighter'' sounds relative; his new HBO series will still involve characters intimately familiar with coffins. It's going to be based on Charlaine Harris' series of Southern Vampire books, about humans and bloodsuckers living together in rural Louisiana. ''The books are funny, scary, sexy, romantic, bizarre and really fun,'' Ball says.

I can't wait.

With Miers out, Sandy Day O'Connor will likely decide the protest of the Pentagon's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.

It should be interesting to read her moderate take on the landmark gay rights case.

Something's Very Wrong--

I stumbled across this disturbing entry on The Huffington Post and was not really shocked. It seems everywhere we look today the big huge corporations are really running this country and not us, the people! And they continue to do so with propaganda.

The Gay Vote--

There's an article in today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution about how the gay vote will impact Atlanta's City Council races in November.

Gays a force in council races

According to the article, Atlanta has a gay population of 500,000 with a total of 750,000 in Georgia. Now if we could just get them all to the polls we might be able to turn this red state BLUE.

Boy Toy--

His name is Ken Carson, better known as Barbi's ex. But on closer inspection he looks like the Queer Eye guys gave him a homo makeover. Read the full story.

Ken’s looks over the decades have gone from disco king to prepster and rock star to WeHo Boy gay, though his PR flaks insist a romance with Barbie might be rekindled. (Photos courtesy Mattel)

All of this prompted this entry in today's AJC.com vent section:

"From the looks of the new Ken, I think he’s more interested in G.I. Joe than Barbie."

It made me chuckle when I read it!

Sneak Peek--

Last night I was watching the West Wing on tv and got a sneak peek of what is about to happen with Rove and Libby. Toby got the ax from an angry as hell President Bartlett for leaking classified information to a Times reporter. Oh to be a fly on the wall when that shoe drops in the real West Wing.

Divine Miss M--

So I wake up this morning and continue with my morning ritual: shower and then coffee and I usually catch part of the Today show. This morning my favorite Diva Bette Midler was getting ready to sing and she was on stage. So I sat down and was very excited. Bette has been my favorite for a long time (and every other gay man's too).

Then she started to sing and then the worst thing happened. Katie Couric got on the stage and starting singing with her. And she was awful. It ruined my whole morning. I was so mad that I turned off the tv and finished getting ready for work. What the hell were they thinking?

Still in the top 20--

Auburn stays in the top 20 in both the AP and the USAToday Coaches' polls:

Sad Sunday--

I am disappointed about the loss last night to LSU but saw plenty of good things the Tigers did too. Like Kenny Irons 218 rushing yards against supposedly the stingiest defense against the run.

The Tigers will bounce back and should remain in the top 25.

What a Saturday!

Wow! Just finished watching the ending of the Bama - Tennessee football game and all I can say is "What a great finish to a defensive struggle". Bama pulled another one out of their ass (just like last week) to remain undefeated. By the way I always pull for anyone playing Alabama being the loyal Auburn fan that I am. But what a game!

After watching Alabama's offensive struggles (due in part to some awesome defense from Tennessee), I am not so worried when they come to OUR house for the season finale.

By the way, I am sitting here writing this post with lotsa butterflies in my stomach. We are only 25 minutes from the kickoff of Auburn - LSU.

The day started off with the Georgia - Arkansas game on the SEC game of the week in the early time slot. That was another humdinger. Georgia squeaked out one just like Bama with a field goal to win by 3. But in the process lost their starting quarterback to a knee injury. So now if we get by LSU tonight I will feel a little better about our trip to Athens before the Bama game.

WTF!

Thanks to BoiFromTroy for pointing me to the College Football Victory Chain Linker. Okay this was very interesting. So I plugged in Auburn to find a chain to a 2005 opponent and this is what I came back with:

"Auburn beat South Carolina who beat Troy who beat North Texas who beat Middle Tennessee St who beat Vanderbilt who beat Wake Forest who beat Clemson who beat North Carolina St who beat Georgia Tech".

So how come we got beat by Georgia Tech. It boggles the mind.

When we marry the world will come to an end!

Yep. As soon as gays are allowed to marry, the planet we all live on will cease to exist. Meteorites will rain from the sky falling down on all the gay bars, rest stops, and other clandestine meeting spots. This will stop the homo's from falling in love and wanting to be married in the Vegas Elvis churches. And it will be a gift from the almighty! Give me a break!

It's Okay to disagree!

Okay, so I was blogging somewhere else and I posted that I was watching the Madonna documentary "I'm going to tell you a secret" and a fellow blogger indicated that they thought she was "chameleon-like and as phony as her Jewish heritage and British accent".

So I replied--

As far as my opinion of Madonna: She's a college dance student from Detroit who quit college and lived on the streets of NYC and then caught a lucky break. Then she sang "Like a Virgin" and hit the big time. I have respected her chameleon like changes and have always been a fan of her music. Then when she came out with"Truth or Dare" and all the religious nuts came out of the woodwork, I said "You go girlfriend". Anyway, that's my story. And yes, her songs were the first I ever heard in my first time in a gay bar, so I may be a lil' bit jaded!

I'll get 12--

Okay, so my blog gal pal FunkyBrownChick was posting lately about her self-imposed "Man Diet" and I came to realize that it has been a very long time since I've had a boyfriend. I do have my "friends with benefits" and you all know who you are. But I want a real boyfriend so I think I will order this. That way I will have a dozen just like him-->.

Under the radar no more!

The Tigers are finally getting back some national respect. No more flying under the radar and sneaking up on opponents. We will be tested this week in Baton Rouge. Hopefully we make another A+.

Mad about Madonna--

Tonight on MTV, Madonna will premiere her new documentary "I'm going to tell you a secret!" I will be watching or recording it. Haven't made my Friday night plans final as of yet. I am sure that MTV will reshow it repeatedly as they do with everything else. Here's Madonna at the premiere.

She's Back--

Secretary of State Condi Rice has gone back to her home state (and mine) for a little diplomacy and politics. She's even participating in the coin toss of Saturday's Bama-Tennessee game. Photo op? Testing the political waters for '08? Hard to say what her real motives are. I will be watching closely.

Today's candy comes courtesy of Totty. He is actor Sean Faris who can be currently seen on the FOX tv show "Reunion" which comes back with new episodes on Nov 3rd.

JustJared has the complete pictorial set from "Flaunt" magazine.

No Shows--

It seems that the infamous in-bred members of the Westboro Baptist Church were no-shows at the speech of murdered gay teen's mother, Judy Shepard in Montana. Her speech went off without a single protest too. Maybe our country (even in the Red States) is slowly becoming more tolerant and accepting. One can only hope!

It's Official!

We will continue to have a woman president (on tv) for at least until the spring. ABC has decided to pick up the show "Commander in Chief" for a full first season.

Now that should drive the right wing nut jobs crazy cuz they think it is a political ad for Hillary.

Wow!

Terror Alert Level: You're Kidding Again, Right?

Baltimore tunnels reopen after terror alert

“Senior U.S. officials who I've spoken to say it is absolutely not corroborated,” Windrem said. “This appears to be very similar to what happened in the New York subway case, where federal officials did not believe that the source was credible, but after they turned it over to local authorities, local authorities decided to act in an abundance of caution.”

Today's Funny--

Survey says--

Gay TV survey defies stereotypes

A study on the TV habits of gays and lesbians revealed Monday they like "South Park" just as much as "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy."

Gay men are most likely to watch -- in this order -- Comedy Central, Discovery, Spike TV, A&E, Bravo, Sci Fi, CNN, Lifetime, Fox News Channel and HGTV, the study said. Gay women, meanwhile, like premium cable channels such as HBO, A&E, USA, ESPN, Discovery, Lifetime, Showtime, Bravo, TNT and Starz.

Notice that the major broadcast networks are missing.

BCS Rankings Released--

Auburn Tigers are ranked 18th in the first official BCS rankings that determine who plays for the National Championship. The Tigers should move up with a victory over LSU this weekend.

TV Time again--

ESPN to televise Saturday's game

AUBURN -- Auburn's game against LSU on Saturday will be televised by ESPN, the network announced Monday.

The move was expected, although there was a slim chance the 6:45 p.m. game could have been bounced to ESPN2.

This will be Auburn's first appearance on ESPN since its season-opening loss to Georgia Tech on Sept. 3.

Ulterior Motives?

Well, well! Guess who is going to participate in the coin toss of this weekend's Alabama-Tennessee football game with a British dignatary. Yep, Sec. of State Condi Rice. Some in the state of Alabama and abroad think this is just a political stunt to boost her presidential aspirations. The game will be nationally televised on CBS. I wonder how much coverage the coin toss now gets. I will be watching!

Monday Candy-- (finally)

Today's Candy is yep, you guessed it, another AFL (Aussie) footballer, Luke Speers. I guess by now all of my loyal readers have discovered that I have a weakness for these Aussie footballers. Makes me want to go "Down Under" for sure (wink, wink).

Good News--

SEC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KENNY IRONS Running Back, AUBURN
5-11 • 202 • Junior Dacula, Ga. (HS/South Carolina)

Irons rushed for a career-best 182 yards on 33 carries in Auburn's 34-17 win at Arkansas.
In the second half, Irons rushed for 126 yards on 23 carries as the Tigers outscored the Razorbacks, 28-7, in the final 30 minutes.
The performance is the first 150+ rushing yardage performance by an Auburn back since Carnell Williams tallied 204 yards against Alabama in 2003.
Irons' total was the third 100+ rushing yardage game in the last four contests.

Missing Candy--

Okay I have been trying to post the Monday Candy and it is NOT working. Must be having technical difficulties at the host. Will try again a bit later. PS: It's a good one too!

Those crazy looney in-bred members of the Westboro Baptist Church always seem to show up any where someone preaches tolerance and acceptance. Now the target is Judy Shepard who is planning a speech at a college in Montana. Details here.

Officially No. 15--

Okay the USAToday Coaches' Poll is out and Auburn has moved up 5 spots to number 15 with 655 points.

There were some shakeups in the Top 25 this week.

Number 10!

After a crazy day of college football yesterday, I am anxiously waiting for the polls to come out to see how far the Tigers have risen. So I stumble over to BoiFromTroy to see his latest take on that crazy finish to the USC-Notre Dame game and instead I find his rankings. He has deemed the Tigers worthy of his top ten. Thanks Boi!

Here is his top ten with his comments:

1. Southern Cal - Despite dropped passes and great game planning by Charlie Weiss, Matt Leinart and company pulled one out of their hat against the odds…that’s what champions do.
2. Virginia Tech: DNP.
3. Texas - Faces only test of season next week against Red Raiders.
4. Georgia - The World’s Largest Cocktail Party looms large as last stumbling block to SEC Title Game
5. Alabama - I still love Brodie Croyle, but that game was not so lovable. Coach Shula went to the run on second-and-short and third-and-short too often. He should have trusted his Heisman-candidate quarterback.
6. Notre Dame - Beat Tennessee and the Irish appear headed to a BCS game.
7. UCLA - Bruins showed heart in second come-from-behind win.
8. Texas Tech - Red Raiders head to Austin to play for Big XII Championship, BCS shot
9. Oregon - Could tie UCLA for Holiday Bowl bid…or maybe BCS at large against Notre Dame?
10. Auburn - Aberration against Georgia Tech sent Tigers off the radar, but they can prove themselves against…

Saturday Nite Candy!

Okay, now I know why my GI Joe doll had those defining lines at the waist. For the longest time I couldn't figure out why my dolls had those lines. Only because I had never seen them in person. Blame it on my youth!

I still call them the GI Joe lines!

And they come in a close second to the lower back dimples as my favorite part of the male anatomy.

Groundhog Day?

Okay, what are the odds? Georgia and Vanderbilt have the same score as the Auburn - Arkansas game. Yep, Georgia fought a pesky Commodore team in Nashville to the same score as the score in Fayetteville.

Victory

Auburn defeats Arkansas 34 - 17

Auburn running back Kenny Irons rushed for 181 yards against the Hawgs. I think this should be enough to win the SEC Offensive player of the week honors.

Thanks Jen-- (again)

Thanks to my good friend Jen, who provides me with the latest Maureen Dowd columns that used to be free but now require a subscription:

Gay Inclusive?

Crowds gather for Millions More Movement

"Despite anti-gay statements by Farrakhan and other march organizers, Cleo Manago of Black Men's Exchange, which calls itself a group for black men of "diverse sexual/intimate expression," briefly addressed the crowd.

Benjamin Chavis, a march organizer, said gay participants attended and "are welcome here today."

Okay, now I have read another story that said that the gay groups weren't allowed to speak even though they were invited. Which do I believe? The one above from CNN or this one from a gay website. Wait. After further review they were speakers from different gay groups. I wonder why one would be allowed but not the other one.

Drugged?

by Brandon Marx

A nasty lawsuit is shaping up in Las Vegas over the treatment Siegfried Fischbacher gave Roy Horn after his near-fatal tiger mauling.

The suit was filed by Horn's former bodyguard, Louis Mydlach. He's accusing Fischbacher, Horn's long-time partner, of retaliating against him when he tried to protect Horn - and of victimizing and keeping Horn drugged against Horn's will by giving him excess medication.

Fischbacher's lawyer called the lawsuit "false in all particulars" - and said Mydlach is trying to capitalize on Siegfried and Roy's fame and wealth.

Mydlach said he was wrongly fired after being subjected to emotional distress after Horn's injury during a show in October 2003. He seeks damages of at least $10,000.
