Hump Day Candy--
Today's Candy is a model named Brian. Something freaky about the lighting and shadows in this pic that made it interesting to me.

Today is the day--
I can honestly say that I have been to the Stonewall Inn and watched Hillary march in the parade in 2000 when she was campaigning for the Senate from the second floor balcony. And that is my most fond memory of living in the northeast. It definitely was NOT the winter weather.
I was also there in 1999 for the parade and have the 30th anniversary T-Shirt to prove it. I also have my best friends Gwen and Wynn as witnesses as they were there with me...
Scenes from the Crime--
Delta Airlines and Coca-Cola were the main corporate sponsors of the parade, which makes sense. Both of their international headquarters are in the city, even though one of them is still trying to emerge from bankruptcy. Hence the car dressed in Delta drag.
The gay contingent of Veterans got a rousing applause, even though they cannot serve openly and honestly. Who says we don't support our troops?
There were the usual drag queens coming by in limos and we had to laugh at the straight couples (two of them) that were standing behind us. The guys kept asking if they were girls and we had to keep turning around and saying, "Dude, they are guys" over and over. Zack thought this was funny and so did I. The last one went by and he turned back to them and said, "It's another guy"! I peed my pants laughing.
And then something pissed off Mother Nature and the flood began. We ran to the nearest shelter (only about 500 feet away) and stood there and watched the tail end of the parade. While we were there, these two ladies (term used loosely) came off of one of the floats and nudged their way next to us. They were dressed appropriately for someone on a float for an adult superstore and the nephew was in heaven. They had on thongs and sexy attire and they were made up to the hilt. If the rain had not come, they would have been gorgeous but somehow looked all wet. We chit chatted and they offered us drinks from their cooler.

Spreading the blog LOVE--
We met strangers there who made us feel like family. I saw their faces and enjoyed their genuine-ness. And that is how I feel about my faceless blog friends. Even though I have yet to see your faces in person, I know your kindred spirits and you make me glad to be a part of this wonderful new medium. You know who you are:
I met a few of you when I first discoved the political blogs because I was sure that Dubya would not be re-elected. We met at the Kicking Ass DNC blog and I became the official bartender for those weekend cyber drunk fests.
Cheers to:
- Jen at Donkey OD for sending me those magnetic stickers that I (to this day still have on the rear end of my car) take off when it gets a bath and go right back on.
- My cyber twin LadyDawnelle. I swear that we were separated at birth and will meet in person sooner rather than later. Mwah!
- All the KA blog regulars like Lizzy, Amanda, Colleen, Gregg, PamB, Barbi, Chuck, Jacque, Tree, DeLL, Kathy in IN, Callie, Karen, and everyone else I may forget to mention. We had some good fun and great exchanges of common ideas to counteract the shit we were being handed down by the current administration. Because of you guys I became MORE political than I already were and for that I honestly thank you from the bottom of my GAY heart... Mwah, mwah, mwah and smooches!!!! (Sorry I get really touchy feely when I get emotional)
And then those of you who probably stumbled here by accident or found out I post MAN Candy. You know who you are:
- My funky brown DIVA, Stolie. What can I say? Ever since you first posted a comment and I went to check you out, I knew that we were not strangers anymore. I love ya more than my luggage!! Mwah!
- Nics, my red headed Irish girlfriend (who had the privalege of meeting the funky brown diva in person) has become my link to all things BBC and beyond. Mwah!
- And because of Stolie and Nics, I have met a wonderful Mama who loves her baby boy and a wonderful MissB, who has made me realize the loss that WAS N'awlins, and a cute Canadian Surfer dude in search of a girlfriend. Damn, if he was only gay! I need a boyfriend, by the way.
And then there are my Friends of Dorothy:
- Spider, I think you were the first to post my blog as a link and from there it has expanded immensely. After you posted my link I got more traffic than before. Hypoxic kind of overlapped with Jen from Donkey OD and at the time I thought peculiar, but not anymore. I now have a link on Donnie's Fresh 'n Tasty. I love his mug shot Monday's. They make my Monday's a bit more bearable. BrettCajun (rival LSU fan) has left me comments as well. Geaux Tigers! Orange and Blue and NOT purple and gold......tee hee
- And due to Brett's trip to SF where he met Tony (my namesake) at Life's Colorful Brushstrokes, he has come over to visit as well. (I think Tony is a stud!!) Hey, Tony, feel free to invite me out west..hint, hint!! I feel like part of a greater community and that is the way it should be.
And that brings everything full circle. Like the ends of the rainbow (only cut in half)!!
Whew! I didn't think I would make it to the end of this post. If it was rambling and didn't make sense, I apologize in advance..... tee hee
Proud--
Pride Update and pictures coming soon.
Needless to say the nephew and I had a spectacular time even though we got drenched by two thunderstorms.

Auntie Em, It's a Twister!!!
I'll spin you 'round like a record, round, round? (There's a song in there somewhere!)
Now the president's team is just making shit up. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, Dorothy!"
You've all heard the story by now I am sure. About the Merchant Marine graduate who was so happy that Dubya was there to address the graduates that he couldn't help himself and gave the president a big ole bear hug on the stage.
Well, that's what the news media is "telling" us what happened.
But last night something interesting happened. Our local Atlanta NBC affiliate let something slip through the MSM Corporate news filter and guess what?
I WAS PAYING ATTENTION!!
They played the video of the hug! The graduate walked up to the The Commander in Chief and extended his hand first, and then the President opened HIS arms and prompted the hug "heard round the world" instead of the other way around. But what the Anchors were saying happened was not what really happened. And they call themselves Journalists?
Was this story distributed as only a feel good story for local channels or did it hit the cable channels? Anything this positive surely would have ended up on FAUX News. I am now on a mission to find a copy of the video so this can spread through the blogosphere. I need help spreading this story!
Editor's Note: Please help me in exposing this obvious lack of journalistic integrity by sending my local station an ELetter to the NewsEditor and see if it really makes a difference. Thanks, let's see how powerful the blog community can be to expose this farce! Post this link to your comments on all blogs you visit. Gay blogs, progressive blogs, grassroots blogs, etc. (This is my first activist blog project and I would love your help!) Remember how the right wing bloggers got Dan Rather canned? All it takes is for this to bubble up up from the ground and explode into the mainstream. Thanks for all who help in the endeavor!!
Here is my letter:
I have always been a loyal viewer of 11Alive news because I thought I could trust that what I was viewing was ethical and had journalistic integrity. NO MORE!
Last night, Ted Hall and Brenda Wood were gushing about the "feel good" story of the Merchant Marine graduate who felt compelled to give the President a big bear hug on graduation day. Were they "NOT WATCHING" the accompanying video? It was obvious from my vantage point on my couch that the graduate first extended HIS hand to the President and the President opened HIS arms for the hug like it must have been orchestrated in advance! What a crock!!
I think I will be getting my local news now from another station or the internet or the blogs and/or the alternative media that doesn't cow down to the corporate owners and their pandering to the Republican Party because it is in their best interest.
And by the way, that new ad campaign, "News you can trust, and the balance you deserve!" Another crock of CRAP!
Signed,
A former Loyal Viewer
(Another, and much longer Rant over. Can you tell I was pissed?)
Hotlanta Pride Weekend
My nephew, Just Zack, has agreed to join me with some of his friends so I don't have to venture down alone. Others backed out on me! Sigh!
The next generation is so going to be more tolerant than this current one and for that I am glad. He is my young hero!
Update: Blogger is STILL not letting me post pictures. That is the reason for the lack of CANDY for my loyal (3) readers. They will return soon hopefully unless I am being censored by Big Brother! ????

He disappointed me tonight!!
But my best bud Anderson Cooper missed an opportunity to call Kay Bailey Hutchinson the political hack she really is by not asking the tough questions after raking John Kerry over the coals concerning the party's positions on the Iraq war.
I so wanted him to ask this.
But then I guess he would have been fired. Thank goodness for the blog world where I get my news.
He has to play the game especially now that he is CNN's number one star in the 18-49 demographic that the corporate advertising whores covet.
Wow, I am on a roll tonight!

She is Amazing!!
Why can't all the privileged people in our country be as humble and giving?
Oh wait, she is one of the bad Hollywood liberals. According to the right wing and conservatives, she is a wacko who used to wear Billy Bob Thornton's blood in a vial around her neck....... Ewwww! She's so ickey!!!
Give me a friggin break!
This country needs more Angelinas and Brads and less pill popping hate spewer millionaires like Rush Limpbone and Sean Hillarity.
Okay rant over! I feel better now!

That Bitch
Tonight I saw it in full force, front and center.
The Rome Renegades opened up the playoffs tonight at home and we all had tickets in the VIP section cause The Good Doctor is a sponsor and the official Team Chiropractor.
Excellent game. We won and will host next weeks conference championship against the team from Raleigh with the winner playing for the super bowl of the AIFL.
We had catered food and it was on a raised platform and we were on the goal line. It was the small town version of luxary suites at Phillips Arena where the Georgia Force team plays and all was good.
Well during the second quarter, No. 4 on the opposing team made a good play and started to strut and showboat to get the crowd riled up and eventually they started booing him. I leaned over to The Good Doctor and said he's so gonna get it. We chuckled!
In the third quarter, the same guy got tackled and fumbled, and we got the ball back! Yeah, Karma is a bitch, for sure!
That's why I try to keep harmony in my life. It's the whole ying-yang thing. Maybe that's why I am gay and a SEC sports fanatic. A hybrid! And I get excellent mileage!! LOL!

Up Late!!
I like Andrew Sullivan alot more now, even though he's conservative. And he's Catholic! Who woulda' thunk?
My point of this post is that any sane person with half a brain would come away from Larry King's debate knowing that it is OK to be gay and religious.... and I doubt that the show convinced anyone other than me that was the case....
PS: the southern baptist representative looked a bit like the kid from the OMEN movie.... scary!!
WTG Boy!
It seems that Anderson Cooper has snagged the first post baby interview with Angelina Jolie and it will be on Tuesday night on CNN and his 360 Show to coincide with National Refugee Day (or it could be International Refugee Day)?
I will definitely be watching.
I love me some Angelina (she just looks like she really cares about the world's wrongs in every interview I have seen)!!
I also have a crush on her new hubby Brad (especially after seeing his 20/20 interview where he is also in Africa helping the poor)!! Honestly I had a crush on him ever since he gave Geena Davis bank robbing etiquette in "Thelma and Louise"..... but I digress!
Honestly I LOVE BRAD PITT!!
And I have a slight crush on my man, Coop! That grey hair is so damn cute!!
Update: I saw the other commercial and it's WORLD Refugee Day!

Today's Funny--
During one of her daily classes a teacher trying to teach good
manners, asked her students the following question:
"Michael, if you were on a date having dinner with a nice young lady, how would you tell her that you have to go to the bathroom?"
Michael said, "Just a minute I have to go pee."
The teacher responded by saying, "That would be rude and impolite. What about you Peter, how would you say it?"
Peter said, "I am sorry, but I really need to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back."
"That's better, but it's still not very nice to say the word bathroom at the dinner table. And you, little Johnny, can you show us your good manners?"
"I would say: Darling, may I please be excused for a moment? I have to shake hands with a very dear friend of mine, whom I hope you'll get to meet after dinner."
The teacher fainted.
Thanks for the funny, Sis!

I Really DO have a Blog Stalker--
Where do I start? I jokingly referred to Bro-In-Law's best friend, Mattie as my pretend blog stalker last week.
I was kidding!
Thanks to a head's up from another blogger I have found out that I have another blog stalker and this one is a bit unsettling...... and scary!
It seems that he is secretly stealing my posts and claiming credit for them. Now I don't consider myself anything special but really, why would you want "MY" words.
It is freaky really. Especially when you go check them out.
Come on, the "Vegas" Journal Constitution? It's not even a real newspaper! Gimme a friggin break.
Thanks Donnie!!!
FYI--
Food, fun and fellowship were had by all.
After dinner, the subject of politics reared it's ugly head and I must say that everyone there agreed that we truly do have a moron and stooges running the country. All the way from the executive to the legislative branches.
Here in red-state Georgia!
It was decided then and there to throw ALL the bums out. If that is truly possible!
One can hope!

Tuesday Candy--
June is Gay Pride Month--
Monday, June 05, 2006
WTF?
So at lunch today, I stroll by the newspaper stand and catch the headline on today's Atlanta Journal Constitution "BUSH PRIORITY: GAY MARRIAGE BAN"!
There it was in all it's glory for the whole world to see in print!
I think someone has his priorities all wrong and I think his name is George!
Shouldn't his top priority be something else, like:
- Finding a solution to the ongoing problem in Iraq
- Coming up with an energy policy that would reduce gas prices and oil dependency
- The immigration problem
- The economy
- Health care for the uninsured
- Terrorism
- Education
- Federal budget deficits
According to the latest Gallup polls, these are what the American people think he should be focusing on at the moment.
Busy Weekend--
Friday night - Rome Renegades game (if you can call it a game, more like a slaughter) final score 104-0. Yeah, that was the final score. And then we went out after the game for some cocktails and fellowship and eventually ended up at the bar at the Holiday Inn where the local rednecks party like rock stars. Hey, the band was okay to dance to and that was what we were looking for.
Saturday- Bro-in-Law's company picnic at Lake Winnepesauka in Chattanooga. It was fun for a smaller amusement park. We rode all the rides and stayed until about 6ish and then came home. I stayed home Saturday night and then did chores on Sunday and even planted some tomatoes and green peppers in containers on my back porch.
Pretty exciting, huh? Yeah, that was my weekend.
